Mission
To allow the individual physician assistant to share in the opportunity to support federal candidates who have demonstrated their belief and understanding of the principles to which the profession is dedicated.
Vision
Taking the lead to advance health care delivery through contributions to the federal electoral process.
The AAPA Political Action Committee (PAC) provides a means for PAs to participate in the political process on a national level. The AAPA PAC supports candidates who are committed to the principles that drive the PA profession. By providing this support, the PAC helps develop strong congressional advocates for the PA profession and helps ensure that those advocates can continue working to promote the interests of physician-PA team practice and patients for many years to come.
Frequently Asked Questions
How are AAPA PAC funds used?
Contributions from the AAPA PAC support the primary and general election campaign efforts of candidates for the U.S. Congress who support and promote the principles of the PA profession and who advocate for policies that improve the health care environment for physician-PA teams and their patients. The AAPA PAC does not contribute to political parties, to presidential candidates, or to other political action committees.
What kinds of candidates receive support from the AAPA PAC?
The AAPA PAC supports both Republican and Democratic candidates with a proven record of supporting and promoting AAPA's legislative priorities. Special consideration is given to candidates who have worked closely with PAs in the past, for example by sponsoring key legislation, and to candidates who hold positions on congressional committees that directly impact AAPA's legislative goals. The AAPA PAC may only make contributions to candidates seeking federal elective office; it cannot support state or local candidates.
