PAEA
Board of Directors Meeting
Vickie Lisowski, PA Education Association Student Member at Large
attended the PAEA Annual Education Forum this past October.
The Annual Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) Education Forum took place on October 28-Novemeber 2, 2008 and was held in Savannah, Georgia. Additional SAAAPA attendees at this meeting were Jessica Boudreaux-Milligan, PAEA Student Member at Large 2006-2008, Jacqueline Spiegel PAEA Graduate Advisor 2006-2010, and Katie Callaway SAAAPA president 2008-2009. There were many events and meetings that I attended where the input of SAAAPA was requested.
I attended the IAC committee meeting and gave feedback on SAAAPA suggestions to their Guidelines for Internal Rotations and Guidelines for Working with Diverse Populations documents. I was also able to attend and answer questions at the “SAAAPA and You” presentation given by Jessica Boudreaux-Milligan. In addition the final meeting I attended of note was the PAEA business meeting.
A common thread of questions at both the SAAAPA presentation and the business meeting was curiosity behind the new SAAAPA membership policy and how it relates to participation in Challenge Bowl. Many of the faculty and program directors expressed their concern over the new policy and the impact it would have on their students. They were assured by the participating SAAAPA members that these issues would be discussed at the next board meeting January.
I would like to thank the PAEA staff and the PAEA Board of Directors for welcoming me to there organization. It was a very informative conference and I look forward to working with them over the next two years.
