The
Student Academy resolves to supports the American Association of Medical
Colleges (AAMC) preliminary recommendations that all Academic Health
Centers should ban all gifts from pharmaceutical industry representatives,
including food. The Student Academy supports the American Medical Student
Association (AMSA) PHARM Free initiative and believes bias information
has no place in PA or medical education. We need to protect future physician
assistants by cooperating with the PAEA and AAPA, to develop a firewall
that governs personal contact between industry representatives and students.
Such a policy would foster public trust that Physician Assistants receive
unbiased education and will offer the best treatment options to patients.
