Assembly of Representatives (AOR) Meeting

7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

The AOR is the legislative body of the Student Academy and where designated student representatives from PA programs around the country meet to create goals for the Student Academy for the coming years and elect next year's Student Academy Board of Directors. The AOR is open to all PA students; however only the designated AOR representatives from each program will be allowed to vote on Student Academy issues.

 

The AOR will include the presentation of the SAAAPA President's Award, Constituent Organization Award, and Outstanding Student Society Awards toward the end of the day. In addition, the Student Academy will recognize Host City Prevention Campaign contributions and will announce the Healthy People 2010 Award winner.

 

The AOR will close with the SAAAPA Board of Directors and leadership position nomination process for the 2008-2009 leadership year.

Please plan to attend this special event that is exclusively for first time PA student attendees to the AAPA's annual conference. You will meet your student leaders and SAAAPA staff who will give you all of the “inside” information that you need to know to make the most of your conference experience. Take the fast track to becoming a conference veteran, while you meet and network with other new PA student attendees. This is a must for all students.

 

 

Sunday, May 25

Annual 5K Fun Walk/Run

Supported by Takeda Pharmaceuticals North America, Inc.

6:30-7:30 a.m.

Buses depart from participating hotels beginning at 5:45 a.m.

Start your morning by participating in the Annual 5K Fun Walk/Run. Whether you run or walk, you will be joining hundreds who have raised money for the PA Foundation.

12:30–1:00 p.m.: Interviews for appointed positions (other than Regional Chairs)

1:00–1:30 p.m.: Chief Delegate candidate speeches/question and answer

1:30–3:30 p.m.: Speeches for elected officer candidates

3:30–3:45 p.m.: Election of Student Academy Board of Directors

3:45–4:45 p.m.: Regional Chairs question and answer/selection by AOR representatives

 

The AOR will conclude their business and elect the 2008-2009 Student Board of Directors. Elections and appointment of the 2008-2009 SAAAPA leadership will follow the schedule listed above.

 

Movie and Discussion: ¡Salud!

The Student Academy encourages students to attend the showing of the movie ¡Salud! and the following discussion. Come learn about health care in another country and discuss your reaction to it.

The Student Academy created three tracks of lectures and forums for PA student attending the annual conference. Track 1 has been designated topics which would be of interest to first year PA students, while Track 2 has topics more relevant for PAs in rotations and preparing for graduation. The third track consists of forums on various subjects to help students learn more about a specific topic. All of the lectures and forums are open to any conference registrant who would like to attend.

SAAAPA Book Drop-Off

Drop-off your children's books for The Children's Shelter of San Antonio at the Foundation Booth, which will accept books Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26. On Monday evening volunteer to place book plates in all of the books which state that they were donated by Physician Assistants.
