Annual
5K Fun Walk/Run
The
PA Foundation hosts the Annual 5K Fun Walk/Run held during AAPA's annual
conference. This year's event will be held in San Antonio on Sunday,
May 25 at 6:30am. Students are encouraged to participate in the event
and the Assembly of Representatives (AOR) will open late so that all
AOR representatives can also take part.
The
Fun Walk/Run helps to raise money for the PA Foundation and will be
used throughout the year to support Healthy Neighborhood and community-based
grants, as well as student scholarships. Students, PA programs, and
student societies are often the recipients of these Foundation programs.
Student societies collected more than $11,000 of the $17,000 total from
last year. This year's goal is for the Fun Walk/Run to raise over $25,000,
which will be used for all of those programs.
To
reach the overall goal, the Foundation is asking that each runner raise
at least $100. So, find ten different friends and family members who
will sponsor you for at least $10 and you will achieve that goal easily.
You can raise money through a competition with other students in the
program, alumni of the program, or a friendly competition among other
PA programs in your state or region. AAPA has an on-line form that can
be completed for all of your donations and will accept checks or on-line
payments through the Web site opening in January.
Remember
to register ahead for the Fun Walk/Run as the event fills up and there
are a limited number of spots for participants.
