The American Heart Association recognizes the need to educate the public in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of elevated blood lipid levels. In response to the need to address best practice treatment guidelines and adherence and to provide accurate, authoritative, objective disease-state information, the AHA, in collaboration with AAPA, has developed the Patient Education Special Report, Managing Your Triglycerides and Other Lipids. The program assists healthcare professionals in their efforts to increase treatment program compliance among patients by educating and improving their patients’ ability to manage and control elevated blood lipids, while encouraging open lines of communication between the patient and healthcare provider team.
