Since 1989, this program has awarded more than $ 2.4 million to over 1,200 deserving PA students across the country. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and future goals as a PA. For the 2008-2009 program year, 56 PA students received scholarships. The deadline for 2009-2010 is January 15, 2010!

Applications must be postmarked by January 15. All applicants must attend an accredited PA Program and be enrolled in the professional phase of their program and must be a student member of the AAPA. Previous PA Foundation scholarship recipients are not eligible to apply again. Each application is reviewed by the Foundation's Scholarship Committee which is comprised of physician assistants. Awards are made in May of each year.

Congratulations to this year's students who received a Physician Assistant supported scholarship through the 2008 Annual Scholarship Program! We value your participation and commitment to the PA profession and wish you continued success as you complete your studies.

Here are some of the quotes from the thank-you letters from the 2009 scholarship recipients:

"I greatly appreciate this generous gift and am proud to be recognized by the PA Foundation.  The scholarship helps alleviate stress of financing PA school and provides welcome support from the PA community."
Lisa Streit,  University of Wisconsin - La Crosse

"This scholarship will ultimately be used to allow me to achieve my dream of becoming a physician assistant and will help me acquire necessary training and tools that will benefit every one of my future patients."
Holly Voigt, University of South Dakota

"I would like to thank you deeply for the generous PA Foundation Scholarship.  While our PA education is clearly a valuable endeavor, the immediate financial burden is quite sizeable.  I recognize the sacrifice and philanthropic spirit of the donors to the PA Foundation, and will make sure that my education and career pay dividends on this investment that you have given me in scholarship form."
Bradley Haveman-Gould, Drexel University

"I am grateful for your support of the PA profession in this way.  Without organizations and programs such as yours, the profession would not have prospered and persevered as it has since its birth years ago."
Quentin Boyles Farmer, Mercer University
