The Student Academy Board of Directors and Regional Chairs met for Leadership Summit in Alexandria, Virginia in the middle of July. During this meeting, they developed the key results for SAAAPA to work on for the 2009-2010 year, based on the input from the Assembly of Representatives (AOR) meeting in San Diego this past May.
Student Academy Objectives 2009-2010
- Increase AAPA recognition and utilization of student resources in the mission of the Academy and service to the profession.
- Enhance collaborative efforts with student health care professional organizations.
- Encourage PA students to take ownership of their profession and responsibility for their education.
- Promote student participation at the local, state, regional, national, and international levels.
- Promote the PA profession through enhanced external relationships and community involvement.
- Further student awareness of national and international health care and social issues.
- Create initiatives to enhance cultural competence and encourage equality and diversity.
- Cultivate interaction and communication between SAAAPA leadership and PA students.
- Encourage PA students to consider their focus on primary care and geriatrics.
- Improve communication and awareness about news and events related to the AAPA and SAAAPA via web based services and tools.
- Recognize PA student for their achievements and services.
